Do Not Worry
25 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?
28 “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? 31 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own

Why do we worry? There are many answers to this question. Maybe you get stressed about all the work that you have to get done before a deadline. Maybe you are having trouble in a relationship that is constantly on your mind, making you anxious. Maybe you are worried about the future and big life decisions coming up. All these worries can pile up in our minds and make us feel overwhelmed. The stress that builds up inside of us can weigh us down and hinder us from moving forward.
BUT, God tells us that there is no need for us to worry. He has promised to take care of our everyday needs. He has our back. He will not abandon us.

A few simple necessities that many people take for granted are food, water, and clothes. When God created the world, He paid attention to detail. He created forests full of trees and plants; He formed mountains that climb high into the sky; He made the seas where creatures swim freely. God made an earth where life is able to flourish. This passage highlights how God made it so that the birds of the air can thrive off of their surroundings. If God took the time to make sure the birds are fed, won’t He do the same for the people he created in His image?
God also has put so much beauty into His creation. He has decorated the fields of grass, sprinkling them with blossoming flowers. If He took the time to give life and beauty to the fields of grass, how much more caring and nurturing will He be for those who have faith in Him?
A question we should be asking ourselves is what is truly important in our lives? What is pushing us to move forward? Is it how successful and wealthy we are? Is it the accomplishments and awards we gain throughout our life? Is it the recognition we get from the good things we do? The answer is no. What is truly important in our lives is glorifying our one and only God. We should make it our main priority to live a life that mirrors the life of Christ Jesus. God has given us the Bible, which is among other things, an instruction manual of how to live. What a privilege it is for us to have access to God’s Word because it teaches us what matters most and directs us where and how to walk forward. We must follow the Lord and love Him with our whole heart. Our mindset should be, “If I seek the kingdom above all else, He will give me everything I need.” God knows what is best for us even when we do not understand in the moment. We can trust that our loving and powerful Father will protect and reward those who have faith in Him.
28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” (Matthew 11:28-30)
God can lift our burdens off our shoulders. We do not need to deal with our struggles on our own. We have a loving Father who wants to take care of us and is always by our side. No matter what life throws our way, we can have confidence that our merciful Father will take our hand and guide us. God has a plan for us. We just need to have the hope and trust that He is in control. He clothes us with affection so that we do not need to fear what lies ahead of us. With God by our side at all times, we do not have to worry.

Adam is singing from the perspective of Jesus, not singing about his own thoughts, but teaching others about what it means to not worry and to place their hope and trust in Jesus.
